Notice what the pathetic De Blasio spends his time on, with the citys crime rate exploding, people leaving, and eventually probably businesses leaving as well.
It is amazing he has any support. He takes attention away from that horrible governor These two... I am glad I dont live in NY but I love my state. They hated Giuliani in NYC. Go figure.
This is a case where I hope both sides destroy each other.
DeBlasio is singlehandedly destroying NYC, but Steve Cohen deserves to be in jail.....he’s straight out of the mold of Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken from the 1980s a Wall Street crook who because of his wealth bought his way out of jail...
LOL ... this is Poetry in Motion :)
Bo Dietl Was on this yesterday. Reminding that the cohens have several hundred millions in their foundation for PTSD for combat veterans.
Mets colors are the same as the City of New York flag, orange and blue, which go back to New Netherlands and the House of Orange. The Mets started about the same time as the 1964-65 New York World's fair, celebrating 300th anniversary of the year the Duke of York threw out the Dutch East Indies company. Blue and Orange were the fair's theme colors. (Not incidentally, also the year, 1664, that my patronymic Huguenot nth great-grandfather was recorded in the New Netherlands census.)
“Cohens former hedge fund, S.A.C. Capital Advisors, pleaded guilty to insider trading charges in 2013 and paid $1.8 billion in fines. Eight traders from S.A.C. were either convicted or pleaded guilty to similar charges, but Cohen, 64, reached a civil deal with SEC that reprimanded him for failing to oversee his people properly and agreed to a two-year ban from managing outside money.”
I remember back in 1976 Toronto came within a hairsbreadth of getting the San Fran Giants. The deal was signed and ready to go and the new mayor Moscone got a court to halt the deal until another buyer could be found. Bob Lurie eventually bought the team. So a mayor stopping a sale has happened before. The next year an expansion team landed in Toronto instead.
The economics problem still exists today in the bay area though....two teams within a twenty-mile radius marginally works.
In this case...respect for de Blasio is a joke, and baseball leadership knows that.
“Mets fans, who tend to lean mostly Dem...”
and this is based on what?
“Can you say, New Jersey Mets?”
Vegas Mets
You start as a multi Billionaire, invest in NYC and after De Mayor gets done you end up just a Billionaire.........
2 NFL teams obviously didn’t work or Vegas just offered too much to the Raiders to refuse. At the time the A’s had just won 3 World Series in a row and the Giants in comparison had 3 seasons of MLB’s lowest attendance. Today is obviously different. That said our musings here on FR about team spectator sports are a fading thing.
Amazon and no the Mets. The socialists are out to kill NY
When are the people of New York City going to get rid of this Nazi (Kaiser Wilhelm)?
I am hoping after this election, the voting dividing line between NYC and the rest of the state will be even more red vs blue than it is now; followed by a move to cut NYC off of NY State, leaving them their two senators and getting two GOPers for the State without NYC.
There is a plan to divide NY, but hasn’t got much lift:

Won’t save a dime. Not workable. Creates more government positions (the “regional” governments) while retaining a state government as well. The three way split does not seem natural, and especially the “Montauk” region seems most unnatural - Nassau and Westchester are not naturally “together”, nor is Nassau & Rockland, nor Rockland & Westchester; and the interests of Suffolk county and Westchester & Rockland counties is about as far as you can get.
A two-way TOTAL division (two states) would be best.
The New York Metro area of New York City, with Long Island and Westchester county would be one new state. Everything north and west of Westchester county would be New York State. The agreement would keep New York City with ownership rights to its water system and zoning and development rights over the watershed from which the water is obtained.
Much less messy, much less complicated, clean and separate.
Sounds like bigotry to me...Cohen is Jewish, right?
