Yep, he was a professional actor and, like all of them, took some clunker roles to keep working and food on the table.
Here is another one of those, 1974's "Zardoz"! I think that he would have preferred the kilt here! One year later he starred in "The Wind and the Lion" AND "The Man who would be King"!
“Bond...James Bond.”
Nobody said it better than Sean Connery.
Great actor and real man.
Ian Fleming personally advised Sean regarding his role of James Bond. I think he was pleased with Connery’s portrayal.
In his sleep, in paradise and 90.
If you’ve got to go, that’s not too bad.
Rest in peace and condolences to his family.
I also loved him in The Untouchables.
“What are you prepared to do?”
To Eliot Ness. Great scene!
Starz (for some reason my son has it and put it on my fire stick)
Yeah not a fan of zardoz. Big fan of the Wind and etc John Milieu flick. Great screen writer and director.
The Man who Would be King”
And interesting enough he turned that down.

Sad, he will be missed but simultaneously remembered forever. Great actor and, from all appears, a real man not afraid to act like one. RIP, Mr. Connery. Condolences to his family and friends.
I was very much in love with Erin Gray. Well, maybe not love, but she was the epitome of gorgeous.
That brightens up an otherwise sad day.
He was so close! RIP to one of my favorite actors.
Some of my favorites are The Hunt for Red October, The Wind and the Lion and The Untouchables. One could easily string together several days worth of movies starring Connery and never cease to be very well entertained.
“Isn’t that just like a wop? Brings a knife to a gunfight.
Get out of here, you dago bastard!”
I always loved that line ... especially with his accent :-).
“I found the Jeopardy skits ... “
Yeah, those are actually funny. “I don’t know the rest but your mother’s a whore ...” .
A great rare exception tp the FR f bomb rule.
I had no idea he was that invested in the Bond character. I love the 007 logo on the personalized stationery.
You have to wonder how many billions he gave up by saying no, but his integrity stayed intact. And he was right, James Bond would never have been he same.
“Now go watch “Entrapment” and enjoy!”
That’s the one with Catherine Zeta Jones crawling around laserbeams in yoga pants. That was one of the first DVDs I ever rented. Nearly burned out the slow motion and freeze frame features on my remote! :-).
“RIP the only REAL James Bond.”
Agreed.
The only one, in my opinion, that almost captured his grit and intensity in that role was Timothy Dalton. It’s a shame Dalton didn’t have better writers for his films. “The Living Daylights” starts out great but gets rather weak as it goes on. “License to Kill” was a solid story, but, outside of the great Robert Davi (based conservative :-) ), had a very weak supporting cast (the two Bond girls (not allowed to call them that anymore) were kinda lame acting wise ... the other bad guys, even Benetio del Toro’s villan, weren’t all that great).
Daniel Craig almost brought that grit back in Casino Royale, but the rest of his movies have been anywhere from meh to terrible (Quantum of Solace grew on me a little, but the other two after are trash).
Suck it Trebeck.
Watching Hunt For Red October now.
