That is a huge one keeping a LOT of folks from joining, probably better than half who go there to try. The administration over there needs to know this. Optional maybe... Mandatory... ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Once I got registered with the website, I’ve never had to re-enter my phone number.
They do not require a phone number. There is a skip option. And it is only when you sign in that they ask
Not true for me, at least. I may have been asked for my phone number when I signed up. I really don't remember. But I certainly haven't been asked to verify anything that I recall.

You are tracked on FR too. FR uses the Urchin tracker from google. Right click your we page and select ‘View page source”, you’ll find the following at the bottom of the page.
If you are on the Internet, you are being tracked at all times.

I just spent twenty minutes on youtube, trying to SEE what Parler looks like. All I found were people yapping about Parler.
At Parler.com there is no clue how it works or looks. I'd have to join it to find out. Like Pelosi's Law: passing a law first, to know what's in it.
Here and there I've gotten some clues, mostly on FR. Apparently you have to be verified even to gaze upon the exalted presence of Parler. I'm not giving them my phone number! Who does that?
I don't have a Twitter acct but at least if someone here links to something there, I can see it.
