OSU played five less games. That’s a lot of wear and tare they didn’t incur like everyone else did.
The greatness of OSU football is their fakes. I pointed this out to my boys many times. They must practice, practice, practice. Many times they fool the cameraman. I don’t watch much sports for obvious reasons...but I can still appreciate amateur sports. The pros? Pfft.

Entertainment is downstream from survival, family, life’s other enjoyments.
As an TOSU alum and casual Buckeye football fan, I must admit to deriving pleasure in seeing Dabo fall. Still I cannot phantom how a team that struggled with a weak Big 10 schedule could rise to the occasion.
Nothing but a bunch of future Flag kneelers.
Didn’t prove squat. Ohio State only played 6 games and now Fields probably won’t make the Alabama game.
“What had the obviously talented Buckeyes actually shown?”
The games they did play were worthy. During the year they were fifth in the nation in total offense, fifth in team passing efficiency, fifth in rushing offense, second in rushing defense, and fourth in turnover margin. Their offense is quick strike as their running attack is listed at 6.0 per attempt.
But the real advantage to them is they did not play as many games to create as great an injury problem. Teams have been doing this at higher level giving players days off to nurse so they would be ready for the playoffs where the money was. The NBA is the biggest example of this. So while teams were playing hurt and not getting well, Ohio State wasn’t playing to get those injuries. I think that’s the biggest complaint being used.
The NCAA has never had to face this before and didn’t know what to do other than let it ride. Is it Ohio State’s fault? No. But the problem exists and it is determined by the money. Amounts of bowl games have been consistently growing over the last few years.
Prior to 2002, bowl game statistics were not included in players’ career totals and the games were mostly considered to be exhibition games involving a payout to participating teams. Despite attempts to establish a permanent system to determine the FBS national champion on the field (such as the Bowl Coalition from 1992 to 1994, the Bowl Alliance from 1995 to 1997, the Bowl Championship Series from 1998 to 2013, and the College Football Playoff from 2014 to the present), various bowl games continue to be held because of the vested economic interests entrenched in them.
So is the most important part to win? Think again. At the NCAA top level of football, the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS, previously known as Division I-A from 1978 through 2005), teams must have earned the right to be bowl eligible, generally by winning at least six games and by not having a losing record at the end of their regular season schedule. But what it turns into is exposure for the players for the NFL possibility, and money for the program. Forget the rah rah. It’s just business with a hype.
Until they have a Championship of League Champions this is a fake Championship. They didn’t want OSU but were happy to have ND.
OSU beat Clemson like a runaway slave.
This season shouldn’t even count, whomever wins it it should come with an asterisk.
When I grew up-—New year’s Day== Rose Parade-—
Followed by Cotton Bowl—Sugar Bowl——Rose Bowl & Orange Bowl...Not in that order, I am sure.
EVERY single game was on free channels on our black & white TV.....
NOW-—ESPN/ABC/Disney has chosen to steal those bowl games from the American public. NOT everyone has Pay TV-—especially since so many persons are out of work.
May they rot in a future hell.
It is not a question of whether they were good enough. It was always a question of they did not play near as many games. The big 10 better never ever cry again about a team getting in playing 1 less game.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
Ohio State emphatically proves it belongs with 49-28 blowout of Clemson in Sugar Bowl playoff semifinal

I see Sarkisian got the Texas job. I’m surprised after what he did at USC, he’s gotten another shot at a big-time program so quickly.
