In previous posts I have mentioned some life hacks related to masks. I will recount those here plus some new ones: 1.always wear below the nose 2.if the mask police tell you to put your mask above the nose then be sure to wear a thin cloth mask 3.a double cloth mask can be turned into a thin single layer mask by cutting out a layer with scissors 4.put tiny slits in the single layer cloth mask to further enhance breathing 5.wear a cloth mask that has been washed in a washing machine over a disposable mask as these have harmful chemicals

Then why did the year-over-year total deaths in the US spike up over 15% when they normally rise 0.3% - 0.7%? This in a year where doctors and nurses around the country and around the world say they're losing patients to a new disease and ICUs are overwhelmed during specific outbreak periods?
This conspiracy theory stuff never makes sense in light of all the facts. It's always based on a sliver of information and lots of conclusion jumping.
An inflated 10 fold increase would give you about ~40k actual deaths which would make it right in with the normal pneumonia - flu deaths which wouldn’t change actual yearly death rates much anyway (which they haven’t changed much) because it’s just another variant of COVID.
It’s all BS anyway and like the normal pneumonia - flu deaths, folks with underlying conditions and are older are more susceptible. That’s nothin new either just common sense.
Kind of like going to certain parts of liberal cities after dark.. you’re just asking for it if you do.
Cloth face masks degrade after washing. If you believe cloth face masks work it maybe time to double up...

Influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 are not even remotely related. They're as similar as humans and snails. They're both viruses; that's it. But you're right that flu deaths don't have much impact. Influenza accounts for an average of 36,000 deaths in the US each year. Source
Excellent point...second hand and well worn cloth masks are best because they allow a freer flow of air.
I semi was as well meaning the more realistic ~40k (vice ~400k+) covid-19 deaths wouldn’t affect the over all US death rate by much.
Influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2 are not even remotely related. Agree I was just adding covid-19 (common cold variant) to the flu and pneumonia death rates.
I don’t believe anything the CDC has to say.
2020’s attributed COVID-19 deaths were equivalent to having another 2017-2018 flu and pneumonia season boosted by 13 percent.
13% of 61,000 is 7,930. Current delta between 2019 total deaths and 2020 total deaths is 436,257. If we took the "13%" number at face value, we're still not accounting for 428,327 excess deaths. And where did that 13% number come from? Just made up?
And none of this still accounts for the fact that 1,000,000 doctors and 5,000,000 nurses are all seeing COVID-19 patients coming in sick and dying. So what's more likely? That a million doctors, 5 million nurses, millions of lab workers and medical examiners all got together with local and state health departments and the CDC in a massive conspiracy to fake a disease, then somehow convinced tens of millions of doctors and nurses around the world to go along with it because....?
Or that a real disease that started in China made its way around a very well connected world via ships and airplanes and that incompetent leadership from state governors exacerbated the problem to the point that untold tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths occurred? I can tell you that I've never seen 50 million people engage in a perfectly executed worldwide conspiracy together, but I HAVE seen PLENTY of government incompetence before.
And I'm expecting to see a whole lot more of it for the next 4 years.
I am still on my first 10 pack of surgical face masks acquired last April . Since I am retired, I just use them to shop. I wear the masks briefly to shop and then steam clean them for 10 minutes or so. I keep about 5 masks in the rotation. I am just about ready to open my second 10 pack of face diapers. So far so good.
I have been wearing the same cloth mask since last March
in order to be allowed to get into the stores
that I want to go into.
Never have washed it...
