“A Summer Place” and “Summer of ‘42”. Those evoke some fond memories for me.

Actually went to see this at the movies with a date when it came out, when I was 16 in high school. I could totally relate to the movie, as I was young and young guys were getting killed in Vietnam at the time. It’s a classic movie for me.

I was in Mendocino while Summer of '42 was being filmed. The town had been divided into modern and period sections, and locals just worked around the film crew and watched the filming from a distance.
I recall a shiny Maserati that looked very out of place in the rustic little town.
Jennifer O'Neill was seriously lovely.

I’m proud to say that I have Jennifer O’Neill’s number in my cell phone. She was on my old radio show and is lovely as ever. Very down to earth and so appreciative of that role she played.

You think men would have learned valuable lessons from this movie about the nature of women.
But almost none did.

Wow. Saw the movie a long time ago and read the book. Loved them both.
Will have to see/read them again. Thanks for the memories.

That movie came to TV sometime in the mid 1970s. As soon as it came on, my mother sent me immediately to bed.
I guess the subject matter was considered "racy" at the time. Especially for somebody like me who was just entering puberty.

It was the Summer of ‘42, I had just concluded my affair with Jennifer O’Neill. (she was too clingy)
