King George was 1948 years old?

Wouldn’t want to pay for the candles on his birthday cake.

Beautiful memory of our former civilization. I love her spirit— the way she runs out to the mic, and the enthusiasm in her applause. Wonderful, wonderful stuff not seen anymore...

How could a whole chorus so botch the words to “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”?

Cool thanks for posting. Saw Danny Kaye at the end in the conga line leaving the stage. He’s one of my favorites.

I am sad for her as she can no longer sing, and I have seen her in an interview or two where she seemed quite devastated by it.

I saw her in 1960 as Guenevere in the original Broadway ensemble of Camelot, with Richard Burton as King Arthur and Robert Goulet as Lancelot. Although I was a teenager, it was one of those "Well, I can die now, having seen that" moments.

For a modern full recitation of the lyrics....

UK MP conservative Jacob Rees-Mogg God Save the Queen

...in response to the Harkles slanders. He added a subtle emphasis on the text in bold...wry British humor

Lyrics...

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.

O Lord, our God, arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall.
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On thee our hopes we fix:
God save the Queen.

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen

From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the Queen!
O'er her thine arm extend,
For Britain's sake defend,
Our mother, prince, and friend,
God save the Queen!
