There are lots of theories, just like there are lotsa theories of Gravity and Superconductivity.
Just because it can’t yet be explained by one overriding theory is no reason to quit studying gravity nor superconductivity nor NASA’s “Lattice Contained Fusiom” (yes, deliberately misspelled).
