Actually the bottom line is cash flow. Accounting gimmicks can distort net income. How many “investors” do you think understand what shareholder equity really is?
Most shareholders have no clue what’s going on because they can’t read financial statements and rely on the biased views of liberal business commentators on TV. Their insights into financial metrics, profitability, efficiency ratios, and valuation is very superficial.
Corporate Execs are also very good at spinning. They wouldn’t be there if they weren’t.
