If all the above sea level ice on planet earth melted how much would that raise the ocean sea levels?
Now mind you the north and south poles average about -22-50°C so it’s never gonna happen
But the answer will surprise you

However, remember that all of the ice at the North Pole is floating, so if the North Pole melts, there would be no change in sea level. Ditto for much of the ice at the South Pole.
It's areas like Greenland and mountain glaciers that would contribute to sea level rise.
You could get a bunch of construction workers to build dykes at low tide, and stave this off.

I think most of the ice at south pole is over land. Antarctica land mass is substantial.
I don’t understand the downside of this even if all the ice somehow magically melts. is the downside that there’s less ocean frontage? Isn’t that made up by the fact that’s there now more useable land in Greenland, Antarctica etc ?
