Ah, blame me being an American who has never given a crap about royalty or nobility, living or dead ... and there’s no magic in old Hollywood or old DC either (in fact we didn’t need so many federal monuments to national glory until the process of kicking the Constitution to the curb in favor of Arbitrary government was well underway, especially after FDR oozed his way across history).

In one episode of Red Dwarf one of the crew threw up on a Parisian sidewalk and said he’d made a Jackson Pollock.

Yeah, I get that. Knowing the taxonomy of the nobility is helpful when reading Shakespeare, though.

When we played “Masterpiece” when I was a girl, we all called the Pollock card “the scrambled eggs.”

The before and after pictures elicit a shoulder shrug.

Artist should have said what the people did was amazing and perfect and the painting is now worth a million bucks.

I think they definitely improved it... the three black spots now give the piece a focal point.

Given a “before” and “after” image, without knowing which was which, most people would not be able to easily determine what one was “better”.

Not really. The characters and their stories have transferred well to other cultures and times. Even in English the characters simply aren’t their titles as Shakespeare wasn’t some Sam Crubish after all.

It was kind of dumb for the artist to leave paint and brushes in front of the painting.

Looks like they added about $200,000 in value.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire. Or both.)
To: BenLurkin
As far as I see, no harm was done. Painted over means completely covered up. This couple just painted on the existing work.
