Peter Clark, 51, flew from Las Vegas to Dubai on Feb. 24, where he went to the hospital after suffering an attack of pancreatitis. Doctors there found traces of hashish in his urine – considered possession in the UAE – and reported Clark to authorities.
Clark claims he brought no drugs to Dubai, nor consumed or purchased drugs while there.
He’s not the first Westerner who has suffered under similar charges

Dubai only has the veneer of modernity. Underneath, it is as 7th century as the rest of the Mideast.
40 or so years ago I watched a 60 minutes or another network show that did a bit on this crazy sheikh driving around barren desert in a Mercedes talking about how he was going to use the country’s new found wealth in oil money to build a city to rival NYC.
Urine trouble now.
I understand they’re barely removed from the Stone Age...but ignorance of the law is NOT an excuse.

I can’t imagine why anyone would go there, or any other shiite hole country in the Middle East. I can guarantee, I won’t go there.
He should have watched Midnight Express as in in-flight movie.

What he may have done legally in the USA is of no concern in the UAE.
He violated their law and must face their justice system.

I have heard stories of Western women who were raped in Dubai and then imprisoned for "fornication."
Lesson to be learned: Never go to Dubai for anything or you might be staying years longer than you planned.
Why would he hide it in his urine?
Almost as much as pancreatitis.

1000 to 2500 a day for oil industry types plus 100% of T&E is a lot of reasons to go. Plus the first 120,000 is tax free and if you know what you are doing with the rest of it that’s tax free as well. I love Dubai you can drink at the hotel bars and that’s where all the night clubs are at stocked full of 20s tall blonde Ukrainians and Moldovans it’s like Vegas with much more money flowing around.
My dad lived in Cairo when I was a a teenager.
His security team gave me a talk every time I boarded the flight into Cairo.
Do not bring weed.
Do not do the hash.
Only drink in an American hotel bar. Only drink the Stella and do not leave that hotel drunk with anyone except your bodyguard/driver.
