Trump never should have gone after McCain in that way, or the Gold Star muslim parents. He hurt himself more than he hurt his adversaries in those instances.

The Red Eye guys are generally good guys but I barely listen anymore to them. When they go on and on about subjects I consider boring, I wonder if there are truckers falling asleep and driving off of cliffs listening to them.

Speaking of which, the Red Eye Guys were kicked off of WABC for being boring, per Bernard And Sid in the morning, they said the show put people to sleep. But I still listen on other stations using the iheart app

PghBaldy: "Trump never should have gone after McCain in that way, or the Gold Star muslim parents.

Certainly by 2016 many conservatives were frustrated & angry over Bush II & Obama's alleged "war on terror" -- why were we still fighting half-heartedly and dying tragically after all those years?
Well, one reason was because "war heroes" like John McCain continued to support the effort.

Trump had a new idea, but to sell it he needed first to bring McCain down a notch or two, so he did.
And I think it's at least arguable that Trump won more new support opposing McCain than he lost.

But there's another, even more insidious factor which McCain epitomized -- the usual Republican political career path.
Typically an ambitious young Republican politician begins his career both talking the talk (campaigning) and walking the walk (voting) very conservatively, but then over many years gradually grows ever more "moderate" until, by career's end they feel entitled to vote against their own party on key issues, like Obama-care.

McCain's title as "maverick" moderate went back to at least 2002, well before Donald Trump's political career, and so made McCain an obvious target for Trump to cement his own conservative support.
So most conservatives support Trump not despite his attacks on McCain & Co., but rather because of it.

As for Trump's attacks on "Gold Star muslim parents,", I think that was pure Democrat media disinformation, and certainly not for the last time.

Very funny comment about the red eye guys. I’ve wondered the same thing. I’ve never learned one thing from them and listen no longer, too. Silence is preferable.

“Trump never should have gone after McCain in that way, or the Gold Star muslim parents. He hurt himself more than he hurt his adversaries in those instances.”

Why not, both of the above were using their positions to SCREW OVER Americans. If they wanted to be left alone, then they needed to leave AMERICANS alone - but they chose to play ball, and no one, them or Obama (because he’s black), or Skunk Cabbage (because she’s a woman), or Senator Max Cleveland in Georgia (who lost 3 limbs in combat) deserve a FREE PASS, when they endanger the future of Americans.

Once you play ball, and play for the other team, prepare for consequences...there was NO HIDING behind uniforms or skin color, or anything else, not with Rush - he FULLY UNDERSTOOD how the Democrats used these people as political human shields and he wasn’t putting up that crap.
