I don’t think waterlogged mattresses float. Wooden deckchairs perhaps.

I don’t think the wooden deckchairs worked much better than a waterlogged mattress. In the icy water, they froze to death in about 10 minutes and I don’t think a mattress or a deck chair would keep you out of the water enough to avoid freezing to death.
