In western Oklahoma we catch them, put in gunnysacks. After freezing we skin and use meat for stir fry tacos, yummy. We will sell the skins to boot makers. Western diamond backs are plentiful In the white gypsum canyons. Can catch all year long where there is warmth. Summer time sucks because it’s hot and they are fast. Lots of fun and adrenaline. Just have to watch for copperheads; they don’t warn you. Catching snakes for 35 years and never been even close to a bite.

I got bit back in the 60’s, big boy hit me right behind the left knee. Me and some buddies were Dove hunting and I was looking for a bird I knocked down and managed to step right on top of him. The bite put me in the hospital for about a week, the reaction to the anti-venom put me in the hospital for another week. Lucky me I’m the 1-1000 allergic to anti-venom.
