I went to school for one year in Portland in the early 80s. Oregonians’ 70s lament that their politics were being ruined by people moving in from CA was just tapering off, because the imports were just starting to get a firm grip on the levers of power.

Portland is heartbreakingly beautiful. 40 years later, it and Seattle are the prettiest insane asylums in the country

I don't think CA influxers are to blame. It's basically a breakdown of the civil order. When you have city councilmen and Mayors ignoring the homeless and not enforcing ordinances that cities are supposed to enforce, and those same officials trying to be cool and hip, you're going to get Antifa thugs who are going to reap nightly destruction and take advantage of that situation.

Portland has always been liberal, but they were liberal in a non-threatening cool way.
