And that is one reason I very rarely click on the link for an article that goes to one of the MSM sites.
Starve the beast.
I will go looking for a local news provider that is close to the story and then post their link in the article.
Send the clicks to the local news source.

So far this year 285 people have been shot in Chicago by gang bangers. Hardly a peep out of the media..
