I am surprised geothermal hasn’t been pursued more. Inside of this planet is really hot, not all that far down from the surface. Get Boring Co. on it already.
Maybe too many reruns of vintage Dr. Who “Inferno” scared them for a long time.
Despite the problems, a favorite from the Pertwee era.
If this turns into something big, U can be SURE the climate changers will crap all over it, declaring it to be the worst idea EVER!
Aren’t these the same people who wanted to drill a hole through the Earth’s mantle?.................
The real reason the interior of the earth is hot is that there is a small amount of heat generated from radioactive decay. The surface/volume ratio of the earth means that there is a substantial heat flux which means high temps inside.
Do not tell this to anyone liberal or they will equate geothermal with nuclear.
Remember in the early 1980s when Labour, the Left and Neil Kinnock considered Thatcher a devil because she dared shut-down coal-mines?
What is it about leftists that they ALWAYS end up wrong, and are always hypocrites?
Where I went to undergraduate they had some geothermal research projects. They never panned out into anything.
