Ranch Style Beans were created in Denison, TX in 1872. I believe Amon G. Carter was a fan and helped build the now defunct factory on Fort Worth’s eastside on old 287. That place looked like a can of beans when I was a kid.

As soon as they rip open, they are ready.

There are plenty of better options other than hotdogs. I have one about once a year just to remind me of that. As for options to cook:

Sometimes low tech and a little thinking works. If you know your trees, you can select the smoke flavor for your sausage. Electric coils don't add any flavor.

Can you even get E.C.’s up there in Ohio?

I do a killer slice up with E.C.’s and eggs and doritos and R.S. and chopped onions, jalepeno (fresh) and potato migas style breakfast.

Sticks to your backbone. The wife approves.

My way of cleaning a grill is to turn it on high for a few minutes and then scrape any food particles from the previous session off with a wire brush. Once or twice a year, I'll scrape out the stuff that sits at the bottom.

I don't fuss with soap and water. Like others have said, at high temperatures, you are killing any germs and bacteria. Nearly a half century of grilling like this and I'm as healthy as can be.

Plus, meats taste better off a "seasoned" grill.

...but have you ever stopped to wonder what’s accumulated on your BBQ over the years?

Flavor.

Or you could just boil it.

Or you could boil a hamburger or maybe a Porter House. Sounds good. Have you ever had boiled SPAM. Some parts are edible.

That's how you cook a hot dog. Or coney.

This is the best. Onions, relish and mustard. Maybe a little kraut. Sitting with family and friends at the lake. Better than a five star restaurant.

Looking for a more hygienic way to roast a hot dog that doesn’t involve it rolling around on a rarely cleaned grill?

A couple of minutes of high heat plus 30 seconds with a grill brush before cooking gives me more confidence in hygiene than most restaurants I know.
