Having seen this band in concert more than five times, starting with, And Then There Were Three, it’s the only band whose albums I cannot enjoy anymore. They were so dynamic in concert it makes their albums pale. I would have given anything to see a Peter Gabriel reunion if they performed, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway.
On Facebook, I follow nostalgia pages for Ottawa and other nearby places and there have been a few vintage ads shared by people of Genesis concerts going back to the Nursery Cryme/Foxtrot era and I’ve read stories about the sort of very unique experiences those shows were even back then.
Ditto.
PS; Marineland was my favorite place to visit in the 60’s, lived close enough to get there by bicycle.
A band called The Musical Box does (did?) a real nice job of re-creating early Genesis tours, with Gabriel’s costumes and even the original slides/video from the Lamb tour.
ironic- i saw Genesis at least a half dozen times from 1978 to 1986. And then there were three was the first tour i saw them and i absolutely love that album.
Going to see them in December in Madison Square Garden. that trifecta of Trick of the Tales, Wind and Wuthering and And Then there were Three is my favorite time of the band.
