I feel horrible for her child.
Quick story.....nephews friend driving down I20, in Georgia....young girl....car comes up quick behind her and starts tailgating her....she decides to do a brake check(illegal in the state of Georgia as I’m sure elsewhere)....she eventually shifts lanes and gets shot in the arm....never found the shooter.
When I was told the story, my nephew kind of had an attitude about it, in defense of the girls actions. So, I asked him, if she had just shifted over to the other lane instead of brake checking the guy-potentially reckless driving-potentially improper stopping in the roadway(a major highway no less) at around 60-70mph, do you think she would have been shot in the arm? His answer was....Probably not.
Crazy folks out there. Mean, horrible and rotten folks out there.
Am I telling anyone to be a pu$$y and back down? Nope.
But, there’s something wrong in this country. And it’s only getting worse. There’s a level of malice, selfishness, ignorance, lack of accountability, negligence, so on and so forth, that seems to be everywhere.
If you have the means to defend yourself and back up your statements and actions, feel free to do whatever the hell you want. But, sometimes taking a deep breath, calling the other person an a$$hole as you continue driving on down the road, might just be the sensible thing to do.
I will sum up the attitude you took a bit to express.
People today do not live by the Golden Rule, but they demand others do so.
I say this because: most people alive today under 50 do not have parents who were made to live by the golden rule, and therefore have not taught their kids to live by it. Instead they have taught them to be selfish, that they don’t do anything wrong, and to be little karens to those who do anything to them they don’t like.
And that is where we are today in America 2021.
Yeah.......agree. I used to be unafraid. Now.....different world out there. I have to remind myself to just shut up and don’t even look at people who cut me off or whatever. It’s not worth it. They usually have nothing to lose.....I have everything to lose.
I turn on my rear fog lights, which look like brake lights, no slow down involved. But I don’t brake check people.
That’s a terrible story. And in general, I-20 should generally be avoided inside the Perimeter.
Been noticing rude, aggressive drivers a lot lately and wondered just the other day what in the world is going on in this country? I remember as a kid my dad would drive 55 in the right lane. Many folks drove speed limit. Not anymore. Almost everybody is in a furious hurry to get whatever oh so important place they’re going.
FWIW, there has been well over a dozen expressway shootings in and around Atlanta in the last few months. This article lists 8 shootings with 5 dead but this is only one county which encompasses the eastern side of Atlanta. There have been at least a dozen more in other jurisdictions just like your nephew’s friend.
