Is it bad of me to hope the damn thing fails?
Pray for rain...
Along with thousands of decomposing carbon based units would be millions of tons of plastic flowing into the ocean.
Well, yes, unless it can be arranged for most of the peoplbreke downstream to escape harm but the gov't to be washed away.
As for your other post, most serious engineers think there is very little chance of a major break causing a huge, sudden surge of water downstream. What is likely are controlled releases sufficient to cause significant downstream flooding. Included in that is, in sort of a worst case scenario if the dam is truly threatened, the possibility of blowing the locks partially or entirely to relieve the threat to the dam. This would create some very bad downstream flooding, but not the sort of "wipe out 1/4 of China" devastation that doomsdayers like to bandy about.
Is it bad of me to hope the damn thing fails?

Yes it is. The flooding an mega-deaths will not affect the CCP one wit. Only the poor and those unable to get out of the way fast enough will die. No one cares about the millions dead as it’s just a rounding error. The rich and powerful will be long gone.
Production of millions of products some of which the West and the US depend on will no longer be made. This include the many foods we import from China. Better stock up on TP now.
Not at all. We’re talking about a few million Communist Chinks taking a swim.
No big deal.
