Hackers have stolen 26 million user logins for tech giants including Amazon, Apple, Facebook as well as vital payment information in the latest online security breach.

The malware hack, exposed by cybersecurity provider NordLocker, also saw payment details nabbed from 3.25 million computers that run Windows software. It was uncovered after researchers discovered a 1.2 terabyte database filled with stolen personal information.

According to a report released by NordLocker on Wednesday, an unidentified, Trojan-type malware stole the files, including 26 million login credentials, between 2018 and 2020.

2018-2020? Seems like the impact of such a breech would have been felt by now.

I use a password generation application that also stores 14 digit passwords.

And the culprit is always MICROSOFT WINDOWS !

They were once declared an illegal monopoly, but now they (Microsoft) need to be declared a national security threat ....

Each night and occasionally through the day, I run cleaning (for lack of a better word) programs to erase/eliminate cookies/tracks on my drive.

I use 2 different programs (both have free versions): Advanced System Care and CCleaner; a couple of months ago, I shored that process up and installed a VPN (NordVPN).

I no longer have Facebook or Twitter but I do frequently shop online: Amazon, WalMart and other sites but I've never had a breach, even prior to doing what I do now but it's like the wild west out on the internet now and precautions must be taken.

“2018-2020? Seems like the impact of such a breech would have been felt by now”

I ran a search program which determined if your email and or password have been compromised in a hack just the other day.

My main email address and password were confirmed as a being hacked late last year. Sure enough 3 months ago I received an email from hackers indicating they had my email address, which was obvious, and my password which they listed and was correct. They were demanding a ransom as they had “video evidence” through my Smart TV and computers of me titillating myself and would release it if payment wasn’t sent.

Yawwwnn, I changed my passwords, and left it to my wife to titillate me in front of our non smart TV / Computers

I don’t think having complex passwords is secure if the hackers can steal them. It’s better to change them frequently.

I setup an email once on aol using “pastword”. No one ever hacked it lol but now, 10-15 years later, I can’t even remember my username.

Why is cyber security never a topic in presidential campaigns? It affects everyone.

This past week Messenger was sending out Venture Capital Inquiries to people in my profile page in my name. A few alerted me of the hacker and so a change of passwords. I refuse to do online banking seems too risky with these clever hackers lurking. Must be a special place in hell for these cretins.
