I think many people are frightened of a God who could create a universe the is something like 13 billion years old. It is far more comforting to confine Him to a more readily graspable limit of 6,000 years. Of course, if my ancestors came from Chatal Huyak (sp?) I would be really pixxed.
Or Gobekli Tepe... :)
A day is as a thousand years and thousand years is as a day....................
2 Peter 3:8
New International Version
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
“I think many people are frightened of a God who could create a universe the is something like 13 billion years old. It is far more comforting to confine Him to a more readily graspable limit of 6,000 years.”
I’ll go ya one better and introduce you to a God capable of having made everything you see and think you have experienced just seven seconds ago without leaving a wisp of a clue that it hadn’t all been here forever.
Before you get dismissive — THINK about it. Think a long time. Because that’s THE ONLY version of this story that extricates us from Satan’s never-settled CREVO War.
And — more than any other element — Satan’s strategy in this debate is not to promote Evo, or Young Earth, or Intelligent Design — he’s not a champion of ANY of it; his sole goal to keep The Church distracted from its central focus: The Great Commission.
So far, he’s made a HELL of a lotta headway.
But I flipped the tables in his temple, scattering his distractions with this one argument, “SINCE (not “if”) God could have created everything in situ in a single instant at ANY point in perceived time, and SINCE (not “if”) there would be NO WAY to tell if or when, THEREFORE the ENTIRE CREVO debate is utterly useless and futile; gums flapping in the wind.”
That some would confine God to 6000 years to do his business and others 13 billion years says something about the human need to put God in confined box. Paul said that even human reasoning would be enough to recognize the hand of God behind all creation so that no human souls would be with out excuse if they rejected Christ.
Science would be great if only God, who hates unjust weights and measures, did the science. Science suffers in that it is humans that do the science. Scientists themselves, as this current crop is shaping out to be, as a lot, tend to be not so self knowledgeable as to how their own pre-biases have corrupted their work. Their leftist biases cause them to miss or at worst deliberately discard any deviance of data that would cloud the desirable political aims of their work. Can we cite Mann’s distorted climate “hockey stick” as one example?
