They are selling all their properties. I think it’s imminent that it goes private

Stopped for gas on a long trip. My credit card was declined. The CC company had not received my payment after a few weeks.

My mortgage lender dunned me for a late charge on a payment mailed three weeks
Prior to the due-date.

Erf!

I now send payments the same day I receive them. A month seems to work better.

My mortgage is now paid off—but my mortgage lender was in southern CA.

I had one payment that I mailed with plenty of lead time that showed up six months late! (Obviously I had cancelled that check and replaced it after receiving a late notice...)

And I am sure they will credit the late fee...cuz they appreciate your business and loyalty.

They charged me the late fee—and that was when I decided to pay off the mortgage in full as quickly as I could make it happen.

I recently sent a 19 pound package to Jacksonville. It arrived resealed, no notice of opening it, and light 18 pounds! USPS went shopping in it. It was filled with childhood memories for my daughter. They did nothing. They laughed at her and said it happens all the time. They refused to reimburse for the missing weight I paid for. They called the issue resolved and closed the case. The cops were called and a report filed. They said they could do nothing without more complaints.

File criminal reports people.

I live in a small city in central NY State. We have two post offices, but I’ve only ever gone to the main office here. Earlier this year, priority packages were taking over a week to get to their destination (Indiana). One time it took 10 days for a package to get from Rome, New York to the sorting station in Rochester, New York. That’s only 2 1/2 hours away. I called my local office and talked to one of the supervisors about it. I told him there was no excuse for a package taking that long to get 2 1/2 hours down the thruway. I also told him that they seemed to have enough help to get the junk mail delivered. He slipped and said they were swamped with packages from Amazon. I took it to mean that they prioritize Amazon shipments, even over their own priority mail. When I confronted him with that fact, he didn’t deny it. Since then the mail here has improved greatly. Any priority package I send to my son in Indiana on a Tuesday, has actually been getting there on Thursday, instead of Friday. Priority delivery used to be two days tops. Then around the holidays it went to 3 days, but it’s been three days for quite a while now. As usual, you pay more for less quality service.

"The CC company had not received my payment after a few weeks."

I have an account at a regional bank which has offices in Oneida County, NY. I used to send my payments out via mail, but got sick of having to buy stamps, and not being able to trust the postal service, so I started using the bank's online bill pay system. It's a God-send. In all the years I've used it, they've never been late. Their service is awesome, and I only have a checking account with them.

I’ll ditto your remarks about online bill pay. Absolutely great.

I deal with a local bank located right here in Aiken County, South Carolina. Their service is outstanding! Their bill pay service saves me a lot of time each month. It has been literally years since I sent a payment through the USPS.

All the temp workers probably treat it as a shopping trip.
