When 39-year-old Cabletron co-founder Robert Levine retired in 1997, newspapers called him “eccentric” — he did, after all, wear ostrich-skin boots and chase off a pizza delivery boy in his armored tank, as he told it — but he was just getting started.
The mansion has an indoor and an outdoor shooting range.
“You never really even have to leave the estate to have fun. I don’t know of another place like it,”
The 25,000-square-foot recreation center called “the Lodge” includes a five-story rock climbing wall, an elevator, an indoor shooting range, a teppanyaki (similar to Hibachi) dining area, a full kitchen, a massage room, a gym, a spa, an Olympic-sized pool and a hot tub, according to the Casteel Creek website.
with unheard-of amenities -- an ice cream parlor, a shooting range and a Western town with a Sheriff's office, to name a few.
The estate also has a full-on Western town setup, including a sheriff’s office, a working old-timey gas station (pumps gasoline and diesel) and a Silver Dollar saloon based on the historic Silver Dollar Bar in Jackson Hole, agents said
Outdoor amenities include a stocked trout pond, a playground, 12 snowmobiles, three all-terrain vehicles, snowplows and a 10-seater Snowcat. There is also an outdoor shooting range and groomed paths for snowmobiling, skiing, horseback riding, hiking and biking, according to the Casteel Creek website.
The amenities building has an Olympic-sized lap pool.
Perhaps the most stunning and understated amenity is a 200-foot steel viewing bridge over the forest. The approximately $1 million bridge provides views over the Rocky Mountains’ Sawatch mountain range and hundreds of acres of forest, said the agents.

That is a beautiful property.
Very unique place.
All that and no bowling alley?!
Deal breaker.
—”All that and no bowling alley?!”
Probably why he is letting it go?
The Vail Valley house is listed for $44.2 million.
There’s no such thin as a deal breaker. I’ll just knock-off a million so you can add it in, designed as you wish it to be. 8>)
If I were ever fortunate enough to build my own home, I’d want a dedicated library and study room, a hobby room, a tv room, and an exercise room.
But I couldn’t see myself having some of the extravagant rooms that some people have.
I concur.
He spent his money well, instead of just building a mansion up the road from Cher.
Maybe Bill and Melinda will sell their humble abode.
Problem is the views are probably marred by the dense for of a funny smelling smoke...
Two questions:
Am I the only one that felt the writer was more than just a little snarky? Since Robert Levine apparently made his money honestly, I say more power to him.
I also wonder if Barbara Scrivens of LIV Sotheby’s International Realty is licensed to practice real estate in Colorado or did they give her a pass because she is such a high roller. What is known in the trade as a “Heavy Hitter”
My guess is the latter.
You would have to build your own “man cave” at least.
Most amazing property I’ve seen which includes the Saudi’s place in Aspen.
What they don't tell you is "Ice cream not included."
A modern “Berchtesgarden”?
Looks ready to burn down.
Sure don’t want forest fire any where near it.
Built into the trees like that no fire breaks.
