At one point the phrase “I find no fault with this man” was uttered, and the sentence was to whip and release Jesus. The Jews cried CRUCIFY HIM. Again the Jews were given a choice between Jesus and a Murderer, set one free. The Jews cried FREE Barrabas. It is pretty clear that the “church heirarchy” wanted Jesus dead. The Romans simply carried out their request.
