Ronnie Dyson (1970) - If You Let Me Make Love To You (Then Why Can't I Touch You)

This song was played on Top 40 radio constantly during the summer of 1970. I was just 7 years old at the time.
I always thought it was a woman singing this song until a few years ago I learned it was a guy.
Anyway, it was a great song and a little slice of pop music from the summer of 1970. Over a half century ago. I am now so old!
Ronnie Dyson died back in 1990 which is over 30 years ago at this point.

From the rock musical
"Salvation", which is largely forgotten today.

I often confuse him with Johnny Nash, The Spiral Staircase, Dobie Gray. Who else?
1 or 2 hits and then they’re gone.
Thought it was a girl singing “Hot Child In The City” before I found it out was Nick Gilder.
Never mind all of Wayne Newton’s early hits . . .

Just as I thought the singer on The Shocking Blue’s “Venus” was a guy.

Spiral Starecase. đ
Thatâs okay; when I was younger, I thought I Love You More Today Than Yesterday was Stevie Wonder.

How many people even heard of Steam?
So far, we have two songs mentioned in this thread that Bananarama did covers of . . .

How many people even heard of Steam? Steam wasn't even a real band, it was just a bunch of studio musicians and then they stuck some random name on it.

Indeed. One case where the voice didn’t match the look.

The Cyrkle did “Red Rubber Ball” which I believe was written by Paul Simon.

Iâm pretty sure Ronnie Dyson was one of the original cast members of the Broadway smash âHairâ back in the day. IIRC it was him singing âThe Age or Aquariusâ on the OST album. Great voice!
