This article would be of limited interest, but I posted it for those who might have an interest in how people will try to cope with an impossible problem as long as Federal Protection keeps the white sharks and seals plentiful. -Tom
Thanks!
IT’S SHARK WEEK!........................
About forty five years ago the enviormentalists won a great victory. They succeeded in stopping yearly the baby seal hunt that had been conducted off the coast of New England every winter. The sight of burly white men clubbing baby seals into bloody pulps was too much for America to bear. The hunt stopped, the seals prospered and grew in numbers. The sharks noticed the increased food supply and expanded their feeding territories to include Cape Cod beaches and the people that use them. So it goes.
Swimming with sharks?

I’ve not seen that before. I’m still chuckling.
“A baby seal walks into a club....”
Sharks are a victim of human superiority. Just because they weren’t blessed with hands and opposable thumbs is no reason for sharks to be treated as second-class citizens. I suspect in Massachusetts, they will soon be eligible to vote and we liberals, who have long understood the plight of sea creatures, will be voting on their behalf.
IT’S SHARK WEEK!..
Thanks for reminding me.
I will check and see if there are any good programs on Makos, my favorite shark. -Tom
Thank you! I enjoyed reading the entire thing!
We binge watched shark shows on National Geographic Channel over the weekend, since it rained here all weekend.
Saw this one show where they put a MAGNET about the size of a brick and an actual brick in the tank with a small shark. The shark avoided the magnet.
This could possibly make a good shark repellant scheme, a few poles in the water with magnets, or even swimwear with magnets!................
I have had Mako shark. I understand it is rated the best tasting. I thought it was very good. A local beach brew pub used to serve it but I think some activists may have pressured them to stop serving it.
Where are the buoys?
It is good tasting but also thresher is very good tasting.
If you get fresh mako steaks don't eat it the same night it is caught , wait a day or 2 before cooking it , as it gives the mako steak a chance to relax.
I have also eaten white shark steaks but prefer mako steaks to the white shark steaks. -Tom
Sharktivity shows many human sightings in the Bay off Plymouth last few days.
There’s so much we can learn from Great White Sharks.
It is possible that they have developed teleportation devices.
Newcomb Hollow beach in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, where Arthur Medici was killed, is one of the beaches last summer that got a ‘‘real-time’’ shark warning buoy.-Tom
Well, I was referring to something else, but thanks for the info!
You'd be digested by the time a shark might even notice magnets small enough for swimwear. Might give him a bit of revenge-indigestion though..;)
