“ Wreaking havoc” as in, they have a casedemic esp among younger people. Prob due to the virus mutating as older hosts are vaccinated. Which was predicted by virologists.
Let’s hope BoJo does not go wobbly and lets this virus run its course in the heavily vaxxed UK and build herd immunity. Otherwise we are all subject to being trapped in an endless cycle.

Yeah, a lot of these articles state that Delta variant is more contagious. It might be. But so far, little to no evidence that it is more dangerous.
Canada has discovered a few score cases of Lambda mutation. It’s getting out of hand. Sure, research the mutants. But there is nothing to suggest things are getting worse for we humans. At least not yet.
We’ll see what happens in the winter, and then we’ll learn a few things about the vaccine efficacy against variants, whether the vaccine “immunity” lasts more than a few months, whether the current trends are seasonal, etc.
If anything the Delta variant is getting us closer to Herd Immunity.
Yeah. Quite possibly it serves as a vaccine in and of itself. It spreads faster, but maybe less deadly. Thus conferring natural immunity to more people, or herd immunity as you said.

You’re not missing anything. The Delta variant is more contagious but less lethal. That’s why they’re hyping the “more contagious” part and saying nothing at all about “less lethal.”
As always, it’s all about the agenda and nothing about the issue.

Me, too. Sometimes I don’t know what to believe because the media is not trustworthy. Even the medical profession can’t always be relied upon due to pressures put upon them. And sometimes it’s simply due to greed.

The most vulnerable tended to get vaccinated first. Now Delta is flashing through the unvaccinated. There will likely be a much lower fatality rate, just because its a mostly younger crop of patients, but deaths will likely rise somewhat in absolute numbers. They lag case number changes by a few weeks.
It is already started in the USA as well, but we are weeks behind the European wave.

The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was developed in Germany, and is manufactured in the Netherlands.
BioNTech is a German Company.
AstraZeneca/Oxford is from the UK, if that counts as Europe, after Brexit.

Israel has had a low total number of Delta cases, and half of them among minors.
In the UK, there have been more deaths.
I don’t think that the two mutations of the Delta variant make it any less deadly, just more transmissible.
Fewer die now, because Delta is mostly a phenomena among the unvaccinated, and the most vulnerable are now mostly vaccinated.
