HARRISBURG — The centerpiece of Gov. Tom Wolf’s plan to fight climate change took another step Tuesday toward the final regulatory threshold to impose a price on carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuel-fired power plants in Pennsylvania.

The Environmental Quality Board, composed primarily of Wolf appointees, approved the plan 15-4 to send it on to the Independent Regulatory Review Commission, which could take it up this fall.

Wolf, a Democrat, wants to the plan to take effect next year as part of a multi-state consortium, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which sets a price and declining limits on carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.

You just got to wonder how far this carbon foot print thing is going to be extended? Will all emergency standby diesel (fossil fuel) generators at fire stations, police stations, hospitals, correction centers, large buildings be assigned a carbon tax for any power generated when the regular electric system and its reliability is destroyed by government rules removing reliable power plants?

How about homeowners with standby power systems and portable generators that fire them up when the electric utility implements rolling blackouts due to lack of fossil fuel generation because of the governor's climate change mitigation plants. Will those homeowners be charged for their electric carbon foot prints?

Inquiring minds want to know?

Ow Pennsylvanians can freeze in the dark because they will not have enough money to pay for a few BTUs a month.

Power plants have a very low profit margin and very high capital expenses.
Taxing them moves them in to the loss column forever.

As PDJT said:

"Hey Melania, let's watch 90 Day Fiance."

"Oh sorry honey, the wind's not blowing!"

Not sure the show was "90 Day Fiance," but it was something equally silly.

Mighty funny how these "fight climate change!" plans all involve fleecing someone for money. Mighty funny.

Carbon dioxide isn't even a pollutant anyway. Plants need CO2. The Dims say they want us to have more trees and such but at the same time want us to have less CO2.

And nobody will produce less CO2 anyway. All that will happen is the cronies will get good carbon footprint scores while their competitors somehow get bad carbon scores. Then the state will require the "polluters" to buy carbon credits from the "non-polluters", thus forcing money to be handed over to the cronies.

There is a desperate need to send some of these college-educated fools back to school to learn about the real effects of carbon dioxide. It is plant food; not a pollutant.

Carbon dioxide is NOT an atmospheric pollutant. No matter what is being preached and verdicts rendered from judicial sources.

Without carbon dioxide, all life dies. But maybe that is the objective. Reduce the entire planet to a sterile environment, in which only anaerobic life forms survive.
