Yeah, I saw one of those and thought it would be great to visit my neighbor. He’s 2 miles away at the most as the crow flies but 6 miles driving, one way. The one I saw had a return home button so I wouldn’t have to worry about having one too many beers. It’s all gravel back roads and I rarely see another vehicle but I don’t want to wreck my own.

Funny I just used the same phrase “as the crow flies” in my post above, I guess we’re thinking the same thing.

Battery life seems to be a big issue, but as you said, point to point travel is shorter than using roads so theoretically with improved battery technology it should have real decent practical advantages. Maybe a while before you get 300 mile range on them but for typical everyday stuff should be no problem. And you can always hop along, recharging (or battery swapping) along the way for longer trips.

Two miles, I can handle that even pretty buzzed. Drunk, maybe not. I tend to fall down when I’m drunk so I rarely get drunk anymore. But I sure wouldn’t want to carry a case of beer that distance ;-)
