We can identify what cancer, HIV, etc... look like.

However, we have not been able to isolate what Covid 19 looks like. The PCR tests only look for symptoms.

If you think they're identifying strains by 'photographs,' you need to do some serious catching-up. They identify strains by sequencing the genes.
