Reminds me of what someone else said. Rock guitarists entertain 3,000 people with 3 chords. Jazz guitarists entertain 3 people with 3,000 chords.
Yep, going to see Pat Metheny on tour this year, all small "houses" of around 3,000. https://www.patmetheny.com/schedule/
Just a lil’ol band from Texas. RIP man.
Thanks
RIP, Dusty...
I lifted a bunch of weights with you guys singing in my ears.
“ I always thought it was funny that the dude named Frank Beard was the only band member of ZZ Top who DIDN’T have a beard.”
Given to embellishment as he is, the Reverend claimed they took a years hiatus after a tour. When they got back together, he and Dusty were sporting those beards, previously unbeknownst to each other. They decided to roll with it. I saw Frank once with a close trimmed goatee, but it didn’t make much sense.
A guitar player friend went to a music festival in Telluride, CO a few years ago. Multiple stages going. He drug his wife to the stage where Joe Satriani was playing to about 12 people. He was loving it but his wife didn’t. She drug him to the stage where Bruce Hornsby was playing to about 4,000.
I had the opportunity to see them live twice. The best performances I’ve seen hands down.
Didn’t know he was still performing. His sound tech in the mid-70’s worked for a tour band I was in during 78-81. Ran into him again around 2007, he was doing sound at the Boulder Theater in Boulder, CO.
awww, that blows. RIP!!!
May 1973 Johnson City Freedom Hall with Rory Gallagher opening. What a show.
What?!!!
Bruce died of liver disease on 25 October 2014, in Suffolk, England, aged 71.
That was a while ago, why bring up Jack Bruce in the way you did (first him, then Dusty)?
Rock should always be fun. There are some bands that seem to strain it out, though.
ZZ Top 'Eliminator'
-"Gimme All Your Lovin'"
-"Got Me Under Pressure"
-"Sharp Dressed Man"
-"I Got the Six"
-"Legs"
-"Bad Girl"
These guys were great. Keep on rockin upstairs Dusty.
Deguello is my favorite ZZ Top album.
Tres Hombres is up there too.
My top two ZZ Top albums.

Because Jack died first and I found them to be the best bass players of their generation. Making a three piece band sound like an orchestra was the unique talent of each.
