TOKYO (AP) - The Springsteen family has gone platinum many times over.
Time to make space for a little silver, too.
Jessica Springsteen and the U.S. equestrian jumping team came up just short of Olympic gold, falling to Sweden in a jump off Saturday night that still left the Americans with a record 10th medal in the event.
"I had really high hopes coming in today," Springsteen said. "It really gave me a lot of confidence and the ability to have big dreams of riding with them so, I´m just so excited."
It's the first for the 29-year-old Springsteen, the daughter of famed rockers Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa, who made her Olympic debut in Tokyo. Riding powerful stallion Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, she clipped one rail in the primary round Saturday, as did McLain Ward, leaving the U.S in a tie with the Swedes for first with eight penalty points.

“Hey, guys, look at this silver medal Daddy bought me!”
Just a typical blue collar family fighting for the little guy.
Wonder if she hates her country as much as her daddy...
I can’t wait until Dave Grohl’s kid brings home the bronze in water polo.
Yup. Grew up in the Jersey mean streets with only a single stable full of show horses. You have to admire that sort of grit.
Basically...i just watched the event.
Evidently she (Springsteen) had never competed in a world championship or Olympics before. Everyone else has been competing for 20/30 plus years- she’s 29YO.
Her slow time also cost the Americans the gold.
LOL
Don't leave out the stable in Wellington, FL where she goes when the weather in Jersey gets too cold for her.
Hero of the blue color man; lives in a huge estate, fly’s with the elites and daughter grew up on a horse. People are so stupid, I missed my calling, I could have been rich.
To be fair, most of these medals were purchased by the parents.
Tom Joad, man. Fight the power.
Bruce has become the man he once defamed and disrespected.
Good on his little girl no matter what.
But Bruce himself? Major doosh.
Equine events, especially jumping, are different than most other events because success is often due more to the horse than the rider. If one can afford to buy the best jumping horses in the world a rider with average skills can be very successful on those horses.
Your point is well taken. On the other hand, even though daddy’s money paid for the horses, lessons, etc., she still had to put in hours of focused effort to compete at the Olympic level. Many offspring in her position achieve absolutely nothing.
due more to the horse than the rider.
“Get off my back.”
Mr. Ed.
Where do these “blue color men” live?
I agree.
Jessica Veruca Salt Springsteen: ..but I want an olympic medal and I want it NOW!
Absolutely. You think Simone Biles’ parents didn’t pay a lot in time & money to get her discovered as a gymnastic prodigy. Sure a lot of it comes from within the athlete, but somebody has to offer encouragement and financial resources (until the USOC does).
