Perfect and healthy and you KNOW where it came from.
There is SO much garbage hidden in dog food and dog treats, now, it’s a sin.
If I had another hard and fast rule, NO “jerky” treats, ever.
Worst history of recalls and dog deaths of any dog snacks.
Most of it’s made in China, with bonus “melamine” added and even if it’s US made, there always salmonella popping up.
You can make your own, fresh, if you snag a cheap dehydrator.
My dogs have never even seen jerky treats.
ALL rawhide is crap, too.
It’s horrifying how it’s processed.
You can even dehydrate stuff in your regular oven.
Beef, chicken, liver and best of all, those creepy packs of chicken gizzards/hearts that pop up in the poultry section now and then.
Your dogs will go bonkers for those things.
:)
No sense in letting good meat go to waste.
What is that Professor? :)
I definitely learned something on this thread. It’s probably an easy mistake to make ... think of all the people that don’t know that and don’t have a forum for someone to warn them.
Those wretched “dental chews” they came out with years ago.
My dogs have no idea they even exist.
Just brush the dang critter’s teeth!
:D
Tractor Supply has taken to selling it whereas before, I would order it from human health supplements websites.
It’s a darn sight cheaper at TC.
I used to pay $30 for a 3 pound bag at VitaCost.

The stuff to avoid is ALL the DE sold in garden centers and pool supply shops.
They’re not edible and may contain detrimental chemicals.
Helpful hint:
If you dissolve DE in water and put it in a spray bottle, you now have your own deadly to fleas spray that is totally non-toxic to pets.
It flies in the face of reason but when the spray dries, it turns back into savage little sharp bits that slice and dice fleas and ticks like crazy.
Southern States used to sell such a thing but all of ours closed up 30 years ago and now I make my own.
I’ll have to let my brother know about that. He has a Jack Russell that loves to chew! ha! He’s an old bud but still likes chewing. My brother could inadvertently pick up those. Horrible.
I have a nine-tray Excalibur. My husband used to make the jerky dog treats. The butcher slices flank steak or London broil very thinly. Never worried about giving them those. Will do when I have a little more time.
We are very blessed to have each other here.
