Came across an interesting theory that much of that movie is from the imagination of a woman suffering a full of psychotic delusional state and that the frequent changing of scenery, the disappearance or rearrangement of thing, is the clue to when it’s real and when it’s her delusional state.
It’s from a book by Stephen King. I haven’t read it and I don’t know where he got his inspiration, maybe from that woman. Creepy, anyway.
