Sometimes, even when you are on the losing team, you score a lot.
I was there--in the USC student section--the happiest place on earth on November 30, 1974.
Ohio State coach Woody Hayes was on the opposite side of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum doing commentary for the TV station that was broadcasting the game. Since the Trojans would be playing his Ohio State Buckeyes in the 1975 Rose Bowl Game in a little over a month, the USC Yell King led us in a yell: "Woody, you're next!" I swear that's the loudest yell I ever heard in the Coliseum.
On November 30, 1974, Tatupu threw a key block that helped Anthony Davis to run the opening kickoff of the second half back for a touchdown against Notre Dame.
RIP.
“The usc students would wave dollar bills and chant...”we will buy you”...good, fun, childish, high spirited rivalry...
PS...I went to both schools...”
Seems to me UCLA Fans would jingle their car keys at SC Students / Fans back in the day, maybe still? The reason was something to the effect what new car did Daddy buy you this week.
