Phil was a very good drummer. Used to lay down some great percussion on a lot of old Genesis tunes that had some rather unusual time signatures.
He was also reportedly one of the best drum tuners in England.

Do you have an opinion on Steve Hackett? He contributed a LOT to Genesis, as well. Under-rated guitarist, for sure! I could listen to ‘Please Don’t Touch’ (album) every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it. :)
