They'll have to find a body, and possibly a weapon, before that can happen.
The guy did something to her and stole her car and ran 2000 miles away and hid the car and himself in Northport Fl
He just lucked out his parents fled to Northport FL which has a police force not known for smarts.
But federal laws were broken like a stolen car over state lines and hiding a stolen car.
......... but this dude is going to prison for 55 years.

If the police had questioned him or he was talking to the press, I might be inclined to agree with you. However, he has done neither. It LOOKS bad but its smart that he lawyered up and shut the hell up. Ive heard my share of crime podcasts where innocent guys have willingly talked to the cops because they had nothing to hide and the cops have gone after them and succeed in putting them in prison.
