Dollar Tree prices break the $1 barrier as costs soar

Raising some prices will certainly give the national chain some flexibility and likely more variety on its shelves. But a dollar this year will not buy you what it did in 2020.

Annual inflation in the U.S. reached 4.2% in July, the highest in three decades. And this week in an appearance before Congress, Fed Chair Jerome Powell said that price increases have worsened amid snarled supply chains and rising labor costs.

That has hit businesses of every type, perhaps especially one that has held the line at $1 for decades.

It’s still a good deal.

But sad.

Nothing but methheads in our local dollar stores. Places are filthy to boot.

The last one I visited looked so awful that I only thing I dared buy were dollar dog toys.

They were a good deal, at least according to my dog who still plays with some of them.

;-)

Dollar Store is nothing but another Chinese store front. Make it here, do it now.

The Dollar Trees around here are well-kept and well-stocked.

But, if they raise their prices, I won’t be shopping there.

You can find many of the things at Dollar Tree for less than a dollar elsewhere.

I only buy the few things I know I can’t get for less than a dollar anywhere else.

Dollar Store is nothing but another Chinese store front.

Exactly. Never go there. I'm surprised so many people buy food there.

Dollar stores and dollar tree are different, way different in my opinion
.
I don’t like The Dollar Store, they’re not always cheaper, they tend to be dirty and certainly not a dollar.

They sell the same Frozen Food available at the local Grocery Store that’s made right here in the good old US of A.

They fill a niche and they are being impacted by the policies of the lying sack of shit Emperor with no Brain Joseph Stolen like we all are.

They should just keep selling stuff for a Dollar and add 10% at Checkout like they do at the Cash Saver Grocery Store.

Dang. Once in a while you could find a jewel in the rough in those stores. I like the Badia mojo marinade. Kicks grilled pork and chicken up a notch.
