The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Monday that a body found Sunday evening at Laguna Creek State Beach in Santa Cruz is that of Cash Bradley Paul Ebright.
The 17-year-old disappeared while walking on the rocks on the south side of the beach last Monday, September 20th.
California State Parks, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, CalFire, the California Highway Patrol, and Santa Cruz Fire all responded.
State Parks led the investigation and continued to look for him last week.
Investigators say his body was found close to where he was pulled into the water.
Ebright attended San Lorenzo Valley High School.
Ebright was the third person to be swept out to sea along Santa Cruz County’s North Coast in eight days.

You won’t last long in the cold water.
Out and back I suppose.
If you get swept out to sea, you’ll be under 100ft of water before you can start to rise. If you weren’t holding your breath at the time, you might not make it.
I looked at the satellite view of that area. Probably not too deep. Looks like the local rocks, though. Probably barnicle and mussel and slick as snot algae covered...turbulent water, and no guarantee he didn’t get injured when the sneaker wave got him. We still haven’t found the body of a local kid that was swept away more than a year ago.
I saw the topography of the area. It could be that he got stunned when he hit the rocks.

Hard to imagine the terror of that when you get further and further away. Poor kid.

I haven’t, I admit. However, I’m aware that anything over knee-high can be problematic if the waves are acting up. I’d love to live on the beach. It’s one of my fantastical places I’d want to live.
