Two New York lawyers pleaded guilty on Wednesday to federal charges for their roles in a Molotov cocktail attack targeting an NYPD vehicle during the May 2020 Black Lives Matter protests sparked by George Floyd's death.

Prosecutors said one of the lawyers, Urooj Rahman, threw a gasoline-filled bottle into an empty police vehicle, attempted to distribute Molotov cocktails to others, and then fled in a minivan driven by Colinford Mattis.

“Protests”

Word sure doesn’t mean what it used to.

one of the lawyers, Urooj Rahman

His pals seeing his name on their smartphone news: "If it's Urooj 'Noodles' Rahman then it's our friend and he's in trouble again."

Urooj Rahman....attempted to distribute Molotov cocktails to others....

This looks like racism to me. Lots of people have evening gatherings and pass cocktails to their friends after dinner. This guy does it and he's in trouble.

Both lawyers expressed regret and acknowledged they would likely be disbarred after guilty pleas

Yes, I would imagine even among lawyers, firebombing is frowned upon.

If I remember correctly, URooj Rajman is a woman. I don’t think there has been an epiphany yet to change the gender.

They both had quality educations. Gives you a pretty good idea about the kind of indoctrination that goes on in higher ed these days.

“10 years? Yeah, right.”

A fine, community service, and probation with the conviction removed at the end like the guy who lied to the FISA court. Totally unlike those harming nothing on January 6th.

Yep. I expect a very short probation. After all, it was a mostly peaceful attempt to burn a police vehicle, and we can’t overlook the lack of self control of certain minorities.

“10 years? Yeah, right.”

Or like Bill Ayers and not serve anytime at all, become a distinguished educator and retire comfortably.

William Ayers is an American elementary education theorist. During the 1960s, Ayers was a leader of the Weather Underground militant group, described by the FBI as a terrorist group, that opposed US involvement in the Vietnam War. He is known for his 1960s radical activism and his later work in education reform, curriculum and instruction.

In 1969, Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground, a self-described communist revolutionary group that sought to overthrow American imperialism. The Weather Underground conducted a campaign of bombing public buildings (including police stations, the United States Capitol, and the Pentagon) during the 1960s and 1970s in response to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The bombings, which caused no fatalities, resulted in Ayers being hunted as a fugitive for several years, until charges were dropped due to illegal actions by the FBI agents pursuing him and others.

Ayers is a retired professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, formerly holding the titles of Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar.
