Family members have identified one of the shooting victims as a 26-year-old Boise Towne Square mall security guard named Jo Acker.
On Monday afternoon, a man fired shots at the mall. Police confirmed that two people died and four others were injured.
“I can’t even put into words how completely devastated and shattered I am,” Acker’s sister, Shawna Lannigan, wrote on social media. “Jo you were always kind and loving. You always had such an enormous heart of gold. I always felt like your keeper. I always wanted to protect you and you always wanted to protect others. You were and are and always will be a hero. I love you to the ends of this earth and beyond. I will miss you until we meet again!”
“We have all lost a friend, a brother, a son, a father, a grand son, a nephew, someone we loved,” another sister, Tiffany Luna, wrote on Facebook.

No offense to the deceased, but he looks to be about 12 years old in that pic. Veryt sad.

Acker identified as a transgender woman on Facebook. Some family members identified the victim as Joe or Joseph in online posts. Acker’s social media profile asks that people “(please) call me Jo.”
Makes you wonder if the transgenderism had anything to do with being killed? I thought that “Jo” seemed odd for a male in the Army.
Well, at least they released identification information on the shooter.

Being Idaho, I’m surprised ten citizens didn’t immediately ventilate him.
So he wasn’t cremated prior to being identified.
Five people and a Boise Police officer were injured in this event.
That would, of course, be six people. Two dead, no motive yet.

Are you implying they delayed because of the him/her thing? Acker was shot and killed, supposedly while attempting to stop the shooter. The shooter, as far as I can tell, has yet to be identified.
Thanks for that. I just scanned the article, but I wondered why they spelled his name “Jo”. He had a Y chromosome. Therefore, if I follow the science, he was male.

Being in uniform is the same thing as having a target on your backside. Killed as much by the management as the perp.
He looks like a handsome young man in uniform. Of course, he was a young man regardless of what he was thinking. Just because it think the sun sets at 2pm doesn’t make it so.
Note how studiously they’re avoiding any further identification of the shooter.
Allegedly, signs on the mall doors say "no firearms." Not sure why that would stop anyone in Idaho, though.... Looking forward to getting the whole story on this. Some are speculating that the shooter was an illegal alien - sadly my first thought.
As per the article the suspect died in the hospital.
