“Jew” is both a race and a belief. Messianic Jews are often Jews, racially.
Not so much as race, as a tribe. Yes, there's a genetic element, but it's not the final word. One can join a tribe (as when a gentile converts to Judaism), or be expelled from a tribe (as when a Jew converts to Christianity). The same cannot be said of races.

Jews are no more a race than Muslims are.
Israel right now has Jewish people of European, Eastern European, African, Asian, and even Native American ancestry. All are Jews and they most definitely are not all of the same race.
