Standard time sucks. Give people daylight so they can get things done, or enjoy activities after work.
That second point is important. I’m convinced that DST was only adopted because so many of our largest cities at the time — NYC, Philadelphia and Boston in EST, Chicago and St. Louis in CST, etc. — were at the eastern ends of their time zones and have early sunsets for their clock times.
That’s the way I like it. Give me one or the other, but I prefer DST. Kids have been going to school in the dark no matter which time it is.
That is the smartest and best reason to keep DST and stay on it year round. These articles about death and mayhem because of the time change are crap. Nobody believes a word of it. The fact is you either appreciate the extra daylight you can utilize being outdoors or you don’t. Plain and simple.
You do know it stays light later in the day during the summer months, naturally, even without DST? All DST means is that it’s still light out when I go to bed, to get up at 4:30.
