Thanks for posting this. I’ve got a 3G phone, and my carrier had been warning me that I will soon lose service. I thought this was a bluff to get me to buy a new phone. I guess it’s no bluff.

It's no bluff, darn it! My phone is 3G and has a qwerty keyboard. I HATE touch screen crap!

AT&T replaced my old $100 walmart Samsung with an off-brand $39 piece of garbage that seems to already be broken. Picture taking is almost impossible, and I cannot send G-Mail out.

Go on ebay and find a newer, but not newest phone for a lot less.
I bought a new in box iphone 6s for $165.
Redpocket will give you cell service for varying rates from $8.25 a month on an annual plan to unlimited with 3gb @highest speeds for $20.00 a month or unlimited 10gb @highest speeds for $30 a month.
Pick which network, T-Mobile, Verizon or ATT, they send you a sim card and even a tech neanderthal like me can activate it.

They have been threatening to shut off 3G for a couple of years.

I am keeping my old clunker phone until they actually shut off the service.

So far it is just talk talk talk talk....
