I generally do not pay attention to reviewers either...I stopped paying attention back in the early Nineties when I realized what douchebags most of them were.
In particular, these two guys (I don't know much about Siskel (the guy on the left-I guess I don't really want to bunch him in with Ebert who sounds like a piece of work) but Ebert came across to me as a pretentious, flaming a-hole. This video shows them having an "old married couple argument" which is both hilarious and repulsive at the same time:

what I realized sometime back in 90’s or 00’s was that all the reviewers were doing was telling you whether a movie was politically correct or not.
Their reviews had nothing to do with the question as to whether the movie was worth watching.
