I don’t have much faith or belief in so-called SSRI medications. I’m not anti-psychiatry - there IS such a thing as mental health and we should all strive to embrace it! - but a lot of the medications currently employed are for MANAGEMENT OF PATIENT BEHAVIOR and not truly to reduce symptoms or solve a problem for the patient.
Since you’re being so honest, I will say that, once at the urging of a relative I saw a psychiatric professional. He gave me the standard psychiatric intake evaluation, to which I gave completely honest and unguarded replies - even though I have pretty much memorized the thing, having worked in mental health for over a decade and know about the booby traps.
This nice individual decided that 300 mg a day of Seroquel would fix me right up. I had a business at the time and, having just experienced several long-time friends walk out on me, I was hella, hella busy.
After the dreams, I got hold of a few extra packs of 300 mg Seroquel for recreational use, but I stopped seeing that psych guy and went back to dosing myself with street drugs. I could not eat, think, talk, or use the bathroom on that stuff. I gained like 15 pounds INSTANTLY. My feet swelled up so that I couldn’t even get a pair of shoes on.
And you were a “zombie” after only 1 mg?! HAHAHAHAAAA! WHAT A LIGHTWEIGHT!
Don’t ask me why I was so sensitive to it. If he put you on 300mg, maybe I was taking 10. My memory’s not perfect, but I know it was a low dose.
It basically made me sleepy, and the will to do anything went right out the window, of course. So I would sleep it off, and then feel fine until the next dose.
Maybe that fool prescribed you 300mg, because he wanted you to sleep all day. :-)
Of course, if you were taking street drugs, you might have built up a tolerance as well beforehand.

He definitely didn’t want me driving or riding my motorcycle. Or being able to work. Or keep up with the bills and housework.
