Oh yeah--it's a lot cheaper, and its not made in China, but that "ecosystem" issue makes me wonder: how does the android compare with apple stuff?
Go do sine sketching on each.
the apple has procreate which many people like for sketching- but samsung also has pretty good apps- personally i would get a 2-1 laptop so that i could run windows programs like rebelle, photoshop, artrage, krita etc-
I bought the samsung plus, and now wish i’d spent a bit more and got a good 2-1 laptop instead for digital art and sketching- (I had first bought an acer spin 5, andl iked it but the pen was awful- so i sent it back and got a tablet instead- i shoulda kept the acer i think- - You can see some of my stuff here- which i started on tablet, but finished in windows on my desktop with more powerful programs:

I use both of my computers for photography editing , Photoshop and Lightroom. I used Windows based computers in the past.
There is a huge price point difference. But my Apple stuff just works. No constant updates, Virus software, Crap running in the background.
oh yeah, the lag is very minimal with the samsung- the pen is nice- there’;s little wobble in straight slow lines- and it’s nice and responsive- so there’s that- but i think the apple is a bit better- not sure htough-
Get your wife an iPad Pro and yourself the Galaxy. Later I’m sure she’ll be making good natured fun of you as she brags about her capabilities compared to yours.
I bought this last year and love it, it’s powerful as hell, and had no issues with drawing. You have to buy the pen separate. The keyboard detaches and you can use it like an ipad or attack the keyboard and use can use it as a laptop. There’s some bad reviews of people saying it lags, but I’ve had nothing like that happen to me.

I own both (apple and samsung) tablets - though not the ipad pro.
If you are already in the apple ecosystem (iphone, mac etc), you will be disappointed with the samsung. If you aren’t already a heavy mac user - the samsung will probably be fine (and cheaper), but if money is not a consideration - no brainer, get the iPad.
My samsung works fine, but I hate it compared to my ipad. (My job gave me the samsung, I bought the apple). I would never buy a samsung tablet if I could afford an iPad instead.
I love my Samsung tablet, and it coordinates well with the TV and my PC. No complaints from me.
I’m a big Sammy fan. Have Samsung phone, TV etc. Get an iPad you won’t be disappointed.
I have the ipad pro. The LIDAR sensor is what convinced me to get it. Not sure is Samsung has it. But it’s nice. I can use it to reverse engineer objects in my business. Plus there was an open box discount on it at Best Buy.
Well, I don’t sketch on a pad, so I can’t help you there...
but if you decide to go with the Samsung, keep an eye out for viruses, and forget about privacy.
(Samsung) it’s a lot cheaper, and its not made in China, but that “ecosystem” issue makes me wonder: how does the android compare with apple stuff?

Samsung uses chips made in China’s Xinjiang province, now shut due to flu. Apple’s M series chips are made in US by Qualcomm.
Android is Google product licensed to various manufactures. Google collects and sells your data and you cannot turn it off. Apple’s privacy is industry leader ; you can turn privacy & location features on or off.
You get what you pay for - buy cheap, get cheap.
After a lot of research I bought a 7+. The concencous seemed to prefer the Apple for editing, but the price of a Samsung was much lower. I also like the SD card feature.
I have both (The Samsung tablet and an Apple Ipad (Air)), and I would recommend the Apple over the Samsung (for stability and speed).
I trust neither Google nor Apple, but at least the Apple is a bit more secure.
The iPad Pro without question.
Another plus for using an iPad compared to android.. you can always get updates. On Android, you can only get updates a couple of times, then they stop (unless you have a rootable phone/tablet, which Samsung is not).
I’ve tried for a couple of years to root (Lineage) my Samsung Tab, but the security software/hardware just won’t let it happen.
I went with an iPad because I already had an iPhone. Apps transfer over between the two, so no need to maintain the same app on two different platforms at twice the cost.
Buy last year’s model at half the cost.
My wife has 2 Apple tablets, while I have both a Samsung s2 and s7. After replacing Google chrome with Samsung internet, I am very happy with my android tablets compared with hers. Using the features is far easier to understand without having to get outside assistance via help desks, etc. I despise the unnecessary complexity of Apple software. Using it is analogous to counting sheep by counting their legs, adding in their heads, then dividing the total by 5.
I almost never by the newest gadget.
Not when I can get the same one next year for half the price. Or Less.
That way I don’t spend days or weeks fretting about spending $1000 on this or that. And then not being able to justify buying a new one for a few years For another thousand dollars... I just spend 250 or 300 and get last years... or even the one before.
It’s nearly always as good as good as the current one, And usually the bugs have been worked out.
And if I really absolutely want this year’s model I can get it next year.
